It is our duty as members of the Clear Creek County Sheriff's Office to save lives and assist those in needs. Alpine Rescue Team's operations budget is drawn primarily through state and local grants and private donations from the public. Alpine Rescue Team a tax-exempt charity under section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code. The Alpine Rescue Team is one of twelve nationally accredited mountain rescue teams operating in the state of Colorado. They, in turn, alert appropriate members via personal communications radios. Whenever Clear Creek Sheriff's Office ( CCSO) dispatch receives a call requesting backcountry rescue, the Sheriff's office notifies the Alpine Rescue Team's mission leaders. The Alpine Rescue Team is tightly connected to the Clear Creek County Sheriff's Office through the emergency dispatch and communications system. They also maintain a fleet of vehicles at their primary building (known as "The Shack") which is located in Evergreen, CO ranging from specially equipped trucks to snowmobiles, to all-terrain vehicles ( ATVs). The Alpine Rescue Team maintains an arsenal of mountain rescue and first aid equipment.

Staffing & EquipmentĪt any given time, the Alpine Rescue Team is staffed by between 40 to 60 professional non-paid mountain rescuers who have applied for membership and have passed a rigorous training regimen.

The jurisdiction of the Alpine Rescue Team spans county-wide, excluding municipalities. The Clear Creek County Sheriff's Office has authorized the Alpine Rescue Team to fulfill this statutory responsibility. Being a complete athlete is what it takes to win: speed on the way up, fast and accurate during the avalanche victim search exercise, fluid and stylish when skiing down.Per Colorado state statute, it is the Sheriff's responsibility to provide search and rescue capability within their counties jurisdiction. This very unique event combines ski touring and free-riding during which racers are timed on the way up, whereas judges evaluate their style on the way down. In 2013, assistance to racers was provided by 4 first aiders. Organized by the Chamonix French Ski School, this early season ski mountaineering race gathers locals around a same passion. Since its first edition in 1989, it has remained a convivial event that brings together both tradition and sports during which La Chamoniarde provides assistance in a spirit of genuine comradeship. In 2013, assistance to runners was provided by 10 first aiders. The course changes every year, and weather that change dramatically: conditions may vary from sunny and hot to stormy or even snowy. Its concerts in altitude have largely contributed to its popularity.Ĭonvivial and a smaller scale race, highly competitive runners yet come from far away to compete in this end-of-season race. The keenest first aiders assist runners on both races back to back, ending up spending the entire late August week end up in the mountains.īorn in 2010, with its extraordinary tracking shots, cosmic sounds, and a unique convivial atmosphere, this new music festival has brought an innovative touch and opened new horizons to the world of mountain discovery. In its second half it follows the CCC course. Referred to as the premier-class race course, first finishers arrive only 2 hours after the CCC winners. Pretty landscapes and a mellow terrain contrast with steep train and hellish rhythm near the end of the race. It is the starting race for those who wish to join the famous UTMB race one day. 15 first aiders assisted runners along the race in 2013. It is a great running test after a long winter. Breath-taking views and a challenging race profile make it a top class event.
